Locations

A location is a circle on the map. An employee whose shift must be at a work location can clock in and out only inside one.

Open Settings, then Locations. Admins and the owner can add and edit locations. Managers can see the list.

  1. Select New location.
  2. Enter a Name. Employees and reports show this name.
  3. Set the Centre in any of these ways:
    • click the map, or drag the marker
    • paste coordinates such as -33.8688, 151.2093 into either box
    • select Use my current location if you are standing on the site.
  4. Enter the Radius (metres).
  5. Leave Status on In use, then select Create location.

Address (optional) is for reference only. It does not move the marker.

The radius can be from 20 to 5,000 metres. A new location starts at 100.

  • A clock is accepted when the phone’s position is inside the circle.
  • Phone GPS is less accurate indoors and between tall buildings. Allow extra for those sites.
  • If people on site are being refused, open Attendance, then Pending. Rejected attempts shows how far each attempt was from the nearest location and the GPS accuracy. Widen the radius to suit.

When two circles overlap, a clock inside both counts for the nearer location.

Status What it means
In use People can clock in here.
Not open yet Saved for later. Nobody can clock in here yet.
Switched off Nobody can clock in here.

To change it quickly, open the location’s menu (⋯) and select Switch off or Put in use.

If you switch off the last location in use, people on shifts that need a work location cannot clock in or out. Darg asks you to confirm first.

Open the location’s menu (⋯) and select Edit. Changes apply from now on. Records already made are not changed.

A shift set to Any location is not checked against the circles. See Shifts.
